Use only Certain Types of Contact Lens Hand Soap
When it comes to contact lens hand soap there are very few brands that you can trust to remove all residues from your hands. Some of the better products include the non-oily soaps such as dial and the soap-pump antibacterial types. Other soap-bar brands such as dove, ivory, or zest, are made of a creamy substance, and will often leave residue on your fingers that will transfer and leave your contacts painted with a film. That being the case, be careful of the type of contact lens hand soap you use.
It is imperative that you wash before inserting, removing or cleaning your contact lenses, regardless if they are made of soft or hard materials. However, keep in mind that although you should be washing your hands with contact lens hand soap you shouldn't clean your contact lenses with a soapy product. They should be cleansed with a chemical solution, or by the thermal method.
Cleaning of your lenses should be done accurately and with care, so make sure you speak to your optometrist or ophthalmologist about the best methods and cleaning devices before using them. Furthermore, be advised that allergic reactions can occur from chemical ingredients, so be wary of the brands you use, and discontinue if any irritations occur.
